Today was Jeremy's 29th birthday and as always, he wanted to spend it with his family. Jeremy chose to have dinner at a little Greek restaurant in the Central end called Olympia Kebob House and Taverna. Myself, Mom & Dad and Mary's family all came to join Jeremy for a Greek dinner. It was a great time of course and I was stuffed by the end...and I only ate half of my plate. Happy Birthday Jeremy!!
It's been a long time since we've been back to Wisconsin, so for a little summer getaway, I decided to take the girls back to the Mad City. I lived there for nearly 8 years so I've still got alot of friends there and of course all Amy's family is there. It's important for the girls to have a relationship with that family despite how things have ended between Amy and I. So...the girls and I packed up the car, and headed out for a 4-day weekend.
There are alot of memories that will stay with me forever and ever. Tonight was certainly one of those memories. While Rhyen is playing soccer and shredding with her skateboard, Dylen has always been dancing and prancing. And finally she was able to show us her stuff. She was absolutely beautiful and at times I just wanted to cry. One day we may look back at this moment and realize that this is where her career started. I love you Dylen!!
There are days when Rhyen and Dylen will ask to do something every 60 seconds, and the answer seems to be 'no' every time. Can I play with that knife? - No! Can I build a fire in my bedroom? - No! I wanna go to a concert with my friends, by ourselves...can I? - NO!! Can I build a rocket ship out of banana peels? - No. Daddy, can we pet the killer stingrays? - YES!!
I can't exactly say it was an eventful day since the rain came and spoiled the parade, but we still had a good time. Our annual Memorial Day plans usually include going to Jeremy's house for a breakfast or BBQ and then watching the parade as it struts down Washington. Jeremy's house is only one house off of Washington, so it's a good location. There were probably 50ish people there today and we always enjoy seeing Mary's family. They always make us feel like we're part of their family. I didn't take a whole lot of pictures because I only had the little camera but here's a few for you to enjoy.
It's that time of year again, to show mother's everywhere how much we care about them and appreciate all they've done for us. My brother and I decided to start out by having the family over, and cooking a big breakfast...4lbs of meat to be exact with tons of pancakes...it was Grrrrrreat!! We even did all the cleaning afterwards too. By the end of our time together, I think we even got a few tears out of mom (as if we didn't know that was gonna happen).
This year we spent Easter with Mom and Dad mostly. My Grandma Mills came into town from Michigan. We spent some time shopping, hanging out at the house visiting...all that family stuff ya do. On Sunday, we went to Jeremy and Mary's house and went to their church. When we got back to their house, the Easter Pig had come and left some goodies. The girls did some egg hunting and enjoyed their basket full of goodies. We had a great lunch, courtesy of Honey Baked Hams...nom nom nom!! By the end of Sunday night, Rhyen had come down with a fever to accompany her runny nose, but she seems to be doing better today. As always though...a good time with the family!
My poor baby girls have been tainted by the genetic disorders of my ear problems. Fortunately, we are blessed with a wonderful doctor, Dr. Goebel, at Washington University that has the most technologically advanced medical resources available to him.
Dylen had to have ear tubes put in again...not a terribly dangerous operation, but scary none-the-less for a 3yr old; but she did awesome!!! We're all home now and doing wonderful.
Me and the girls (more Dylen than Rhyen) were doing some dancing to the Jason Mraz song "I'm Yours" in the kitchen recently...according to Jay, I was being a dork, but that's a good thing I think. Anyways, check it out.
Jeremy said that "The family that rocks together, stays together"...or maybe he was just quoting a t-shirt. Either way, this was the 3rd Flogging Molly concert that me, Dad and Jeremy have been to together. However, this time, Super Dave came along with a few of his buddies. This was the first time that we know of that they had played The Pageant. If you haven't been there, you need to go. It's really a great venue and there's not a bad seat in the house. The two bands that opened for them The Mighty Stef and somebody else, were also really good.
